Hollee Hitchcock Becker

Making the decision to give toward graduate scholarships for Master of Architecture students was simple for Hollee Hitchcock Becker, associate professor and associate dean for graduate studies for the School of Architecture and Planning.

Her gifts directly benefit graduate architecture students, addressing the gap between their financial aid packages and what they can afford to pay.

“Architects make a difference in our world, and I have witnessed many inspiring thesis projects in our school,” she said of her initial gift, adding, “Our students are stewards of the earth through the design of built environments that serve humanity, glorify God, and respect the earth.”

Becker, who has been at the University for eight years, feels blessed to teach at Catholic University. She was drawn by the University's emphasis on faith, reason, and service, which she said beautifully and concisely expresses the three realms in which both students and faculty try and excel.

“Architects confirm my belief in our design excellence when they tell me that they look to Catholic University first when searching for architectural interns and permanent hires,” she said.

Becker encourages other faculty to also make a gift to help “nurture creative, faithful, responsible critical thinkers.”
