On December 9, Catholic University broke ground for a new dining commons on the site previously occupied by Magner Hall.

“It will double the size of our dining facilities,” said President John Garvey, adding “It will provide a beautiful and spacious environment for the Cardinal family to come together over meals.”

Construction of the new facility was made possible through an $8 million gift to the University from a donor couple who chose to remain anonymous.

“This dining commons — along with Maloney Hall, Carlini Field, and the planned nursing and sciences building — [...] will show incoming families and the D.C. area that we’re serious about growing.”

The dining commons, which is expected to be completed in 2021, will offer added nutritious and vegetarian options and more fresh and whole foods. It will also be a campus hub, and the new home to the Center for Academic and Career Success.
