On Saturday, April 2, Brian Cashman, B.A. 1989, was formally inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame in a ceremony that was originally scheduled for 2020.

About Brian Cashman

Cashman was a four-year starter on the baseball team at Catholic University under coach Ross Natoli. He was the Cardinals’ leadoff hitter and held the program record for hits in a season (52) for 11 years. In 1988, Cashman batted .348, helping the program beat powerful competitors like Division I University of Maryland and Division II Bowie State University. He also scored two runs in a 5-4 loss against No. 18 George Washington University in 1988.

At the age of 31, he became the youngest general manager to win a World Series when the New York Yankees defeated the San Diego Padres. Cashman went on to become the only general manager to win the World Series in each of his first three years (1998-2000).

In 1998, the Alumni Association honored Cashman with the Young Alumni Merit Award.
