After years of eager anticipation, Murphy's Grill is now open! On Monday, September 25, 2017, the grill officially opened its doors in the lower level of the Edward J. Pryzbyla University Center.
Thanks to the generosity of the Catholic University family — immortalized on the donor wall — Murphy’s fills the void left by the closing of The Rathskeller (“The Rat”) in 2003. With a student staff, pool tables, comfortable seating, and an American-pub-style restaurant, Murphy’s rejuvenates campus life.

Conceived as a tribute to alumnus Mike Murphy, B.A. 1974, M.A. 1975, who passed away in 2007, Murphy's is the end result of years of hard work and a commitment of our alumni, friends, Trustees, and other donors. The staff of University Advancement echoes the words of Mike Allen, vice president of student affairs: “This project simply would not have gotten done without the generosity of so many of our donors.”
