During Cardinal Weekend 2025, the National Catholic School of Social Service commemorated the 20th anniversary of its former NCSSS in the Philippines program, a signature international initiative that advanced global social work education and cultural exchange from 2004 to 2012. Nearly 30 alumni returned to campus to celebrate this meaningful milestone with us and reflect on the program’s enduring impact.

Attendees gathered for a special presentation by Dr. Laura Daugherty and Professor Emeritus Dr. Fred Ahearn, who offered historical reflections on the program and shared insights from their recent visit to the Philippines in summer 2025. Their remarks highlighted the profound relationships, cross-cultural learning, and global service mindset fostered through this transformative academic experience.

This anniversary celebration reaffirmed the lasting legacy of the NCSSS in the Philippines program and the school’s ongoing commitment to preparing social work leaders for service in a global context.
