With five Catholic University alumni in process of canonization, our institution embraces the mandate of Pope Leo XIII at its founding to "give to the Church and the nation her best citizens." Among them is Venerable Fulton J. Sheen. For 23 years he taught at Catholic University and prayed daily in Caldwell Chapel, and on Sept. 24, 2026, he will be beatified in St. Louis, taking the title Blessed.
