In honor of the 100th anniversary of the National Catholic School of Social Service (NCSSS), John Mosby Russell, B.A. 1950, M.S.W. 1952, has made a gift that will fund graduate scholarships to the school in perpetuity.

Russell’s generous gift of $100,000 establishes the Endowed Centennial Scholarship for Graduate Study. This scholarship will benefit NCSSS graduate students who seek to lead efforts to address the complex challenges facing local, national, and global communities in the 21st century. Recipients of the scholarship will be chosen by the dean and be known as Centennial Scholars. They will be selected based on outstanding academic achievement and financial need.

Russell has long been a dedicated benefactor to Catholic University. He previously funded three other scholarships and has given generously to other University fundraising efforts. He made this gift with the purpose to encourage others to contribute as well.

NCSSS marks its anniversary in March. Net proceeds from a March 20 dinner celebrating the NCSSS anniversary will be added to the Centennial Scholarship fund. Donors may make additional contributions to the Centennial Scholarship fund by calling 202-319-6910 or via another giving option.
